This home takes its palette from the antique barn on the grounds. Weathering steel in flat and corrugated profiles wraps a low, deep-eaved volume banked into the hillside, meeting board-formed concrete at the walkout level below.
Inside, the same materials turn warm. A board-formed concrete fireplace mass anchors the lower living space, flanked in blackened steel and set against plank ceilings, cedar slat screens, and troweled concrete floors. An open-riser stair of pale oak on steel stringers connects the levels. The result is a house that reads as spare and industrial from the field, and quiet and warm once you're in it.
