Set on a knoll, at 1,800 ft. elevation, in the town of Walden, this contemporary post and beam captures the pastoral views of the Northeast Kingdom. Large European triple glaze windows and lift-slide doors provide uncompromising performance without sacrificing views. With a high-efficiency heat-pump HVAC system and a field-mounted array of solar panels, the house minimizes its footprint. Designed by architect Ernie Ruskey, of Tektonika, to take advantage of the southern views, the house features large south-facing decks on both levels. There is a music room separated by shoji screen doors that slide away and transform the great room into a performance space. The wood ceilings enhance the acoustical comfort of the great room space and provide visual warmth. Anticipated completion in August 2020.
